My Dad at 87 still likes to get out in the shop and make a little saw dust with me

At 87, my Dad still likes to get out in the shop and make a little saw dust with me, or man glitter, as my wife Laura would say. Woodcraft combined with some arts and crafts .

For the last 6 years, I have only used Mesquite wood. Once finished with the carving and sanding, along with resin, we start inlaying Turquoise and other minerals like Amethyst into the insect damaged areas. After the resin has had time to cure, we soak the item in sesame oil for 24 hours. In 2017 we began to add a layer of baked on bees wax to help protect the wood.

They will last for years if taken care of properly and cooking with hand made wood spoons is much better than petroleum based plastic or rubber utensils. They won't scratch your non stick cookware and you wont find any plastic in your food.

I have friends that bring me wood from different parts of the Texas

We use a chain saw or band saw to cut the rough logs down to size and then we carve wood Spoons, Spatulas, Back Scratchers, Bowls, Bottle openers, Wood Knifes, Pepper and Salt Grinders or anything we can think of so we don't waste any of the wood.
